Digital Storytelling
Digital storytelling is a creative approach that combines storytelling with digital technology to enhance language learning. It involves creating narratives using multimedia elements like images, audio, video, and text. By engaging students as active participants in the storytelling process, digital storytelling promotes language acquisition, creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy skills (Di Blas & Paolini, 2013; Duveskog, Tedre, Sedano, & Sutinen, 2012; Hung, Hwang, & Huang, 2012; Wake, 2012; Yang & Wu, 2012). Students develop language proficiency as they select and organize vocabulary and grammar structures to construct their stories (Timuçin & Irgin, 2015; Torres, Ponce, & Garcia, 2012). The use of multimedia elements makes language learning more engaging and memorable (Smeda, Dakich, & Sharda, 2014), while also fostering communication and self-expression abilities. Digital storytelling empowers students to become storytellers, providing a platform for language practice, creativity, and personal expression in the language classroom.
